well, hello 2010...

you optimistic devil you! why is it that we feel so ready to live life when the new year hits? that feeling should really be with us everyday, no? i actually stayed up to witness the passing of another year last night (instead of justin having to gently shake jax and i awake like in years past) and i gotta tell you, i feel it's over-rated.maybe just because i am not one of those people that needs to get away from the past year's events. i am very content with my life, and it feels fantastic.

let's re-cap, shall we? in 2009:
-went to maui on vacay. so beautiful and so overpriced (barfed in the ocean while snorkeling.)
-baby isabella elyse was born! annette and bobby's first child. man, i love her so much.
-justin and i celebrated 2 years of marriage with family and 99 cent margaritas.
- realized not only who my true friends are but also discovered what i am looking for in a friend. (and btw, it is NOT someone who is going to or trying to cause drama in my life.)
-sewed my first quilt!! among other things...
-created a craft room in our love shack. i don't spend nearly as much time in there as i should, but knowing it's there makes me happy.
-learned how to de-stress (kinda). hello, hot bubble baths!
-entered my 5th year of teaching.
-my mama turned 50. and yes, she still looks fabulous! seriously, i fear i am beginning to look older than her. i'll do botox if i have to!
-my nana and tata fierros celebrated their 50th anniversary. my nana's feelings: "mija, your tata wanted to renew our vows, and i told him i wouldn't say yes a second time. i'm not an idiot." hahah i love them so much!
-joined a book club. however, justin and i are contemplating starting our own so i can avoid jodi picoult books and twilght gab sessions.
-started monthly art making with friends from work!
-lost someone close but realized it's a part of life.

so there we have it. i'm sure there were other important things that happened, but as i don't blog as much i used to i can't remember much. overall, this was a pretty low-key year, and i'm thankful for that.

i have a few resolutions in mind, but i don't want to write them down just yet. i am considering doing a photo a day but might alter it to being a photo a week. we'll see!

happy new year!!

well if you do start your own, let me know. i am always up for more intellectually challenging books. i love the club i'm in, but i want books chosen for subject matter, are thought provoking and can be discussed. that's not always the case in mine.

sure thing, lady! i like the current book club because it makes me try books out of my preferred genre, but i'm not always up for some of them. plus, justin and his brother want to get in on the action and i think the books that are chosen in the current book club might be too girly for them.
