back to the real celebrations.
i don't really like to celebrate my birthday, but was in need of a night out with friends. a few of us met up at casey moore's on university. i was hoping to re-live some of my college days when us girls used to get all gussied up and dance and drink our way down mill ave. i had so much fun with my amigos at the laid back casey moore's but then i suggested that the girls leave the boys and go do some serious damage on the dance floors down mill. here's my warning to you: never expect to have the same kind of fun as you did when you were a carefree college student. you will be greatly disappointed. we went to a few clubs and there was only a handfull of people dancing and those people were cougars. seriously. they have taken over the town. i'm hoping it was just an off day for tempe. long story short; went to some clubs, rolled my eyes, said "i can't believe this shit" a few times, and laughed when jax pointed out a couple in their 40's making out in the middle of the bar like it was their first time. if we would have stayed longer than the 5 seconds we did, we probably would have seen some over-the-clothes action. (i just shuddered.)
anywho. we went back to casey's and went home around 1:30. (yes! i stayed up late!!) it was a fun night with dear friends and family.

on saturday, we celebrated our little goldie (a.ka. riley) with a family pool party. with every year she get's sassier. (i'm told her personality is just like mine when i was her age.) we all fear what she'll be like in her teens!
besides sharing my birthday with my cute little niece, may 2nd is also the day i met my oso. it's been 11 years and i am still head-over-heels in love.

i got some gift cards, beautiful dresses from my mama, and a few other things that aren't pictured here, but these were just too pretty! vintage barbie tote, playing cards and luggage tag from nett and bobby (yes, i am into vintage barbie and i have a wonderful family who are my suppliers), a HUGE (36x24) rotary cutting board also from annette and bobby (i had been drooling over this at hobby lobby but it never seemed to go on sale). getting this mat was bobby's idea because he saw that i only had a teeny one in my craft room. what a thoughtful brother-in-law!!
the rest of the cute craft stuff is from my tia barb. i almost jumped out of my pants with excitement when i saw the basket full of fat-quarter fabrics. also from my tia barb is an adorble stamp set with various birds that is not pictured here. i'm pretty obsessed with birds and she knows it!
